{"id":6824,"date":"2020-09-27T14:32:58","date_gmt":"2020-09-27T10:32:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tsayg.am\/?p=6824"},"modified":"2020-09-27T14:32:58","modified_gmt":"2020-09-27T10:32:58","slug":"armenian-defense-minister-vows-harshest-ever-response-to-azerbaijani-attack-on-artsakh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tsayg.am\/en\/armenian-defense-minister-vows-harshest-ever-response-to-azerbaijani-attack-on-artsakh\/","title":{"rendered":"Armenian Defense Minister vows harshest ever response to Azerbaijani attack on Artsakh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/armenpress.am\/eng\/news\/1028981.html\">Armenpress:<\/a>Armenian Minister of Defense Davit Tonoyan has issued a statement saying the Artsakh military is neutralizing the Azerbaijani attempts to advance with decisive countermeasures and inflicting heavy losses.<\/p>\n<p>Tonoyan said the Armenian Armed Forces \u2013 being the guarantors of security of Artsakh \u2013 are ready to provide any assistance to ensure the Artsakhi population\u2019s security.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday early in the morning, by grossly violating international humanitarian law norms and the logic of the peaceful negotiations process for the conflict resolution, the Azerbaijani armed forces launched an offensive using rocket-artillery and aviation at the entire length of the Artsakh-Azerbaijani line of contact, targeting both Defense Army combat positions and peaceful settlements of Artsakh. Therefore, the entire responsibility of the combat operations falls on Azerbaijan\u2019s military-political leadership. It is already obvious that by not learning lessons from their own inglorious defeats the Azerbaijani authorities have once again overestimated their abilities, for which I am certain they will be strongly punished,\u201d Tonoyan said.<\/p>\n<p>Tonoyan said this adventurism will have severe consequences for Azerbaijan and the response will be harsh as never before. Tonoyan said the Armenian army has all necessary means to once again destroy the enemy which is attacking the homeland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDear countrymen, brothers-in-arms, all our victories were shaped thanks to unity. I am sure, at this decisive moment we will carry out our combat objective in unity and with honor, teaching a lesson to the enemy who only understand the language of force,\u201d Tonoyan said.<\/p>\n<p>In the early morning of September 27, the Azerbaijani military launched a massive attack on Artsakh using air force, missiles and tanks.  The Azerbaijani artillery strikes targeted civilian settlements, including Stepanakert city, which resulted in several civilians being killed.
